Best Block is a family company, dedicated to delivering quality, integrity, and value.
For 75 years, our team has worked to manufacture and deliver the highest quality concrete block, hardscape units, brick, and stone, along with a complete line of accessories and supplies to compliment our products.
Our goal is to be an easy company to work with, while being fast and responsive to our customer’s needs. We work hard at being the experts in our field to assist in handling the challenges of any construction project from start to finish, on time and on budget.
History
The history of Best Block Company started just after WWII, in 1945, when Walter Pachota, with financial backing from his father, Andrew Pachota, and his father-in-law, Joseph Goszkowski, purchased an existing block company located in Livonia, Michigan. Eventually, all three of Walter's children worked in the family business. Dave oversaw the manufacturing process and Bob worked as a salesperson. Mike managed Best Concrete Company, a ready mix operation. The company changed and evolved through the years, adding and closing locations as opportunities arose and conditions changed.
In its history, Best Block and the Pachota family operated locations in Taylor, Brownstown Twp., Ypsilanti, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Canton, Warren, Pontiac, Muskegon and Detroit. In addition to block and ready mix the company added aggregates, clay brick, building supplies and landscape products to the lineup.
Today, Walter's grandson, Andrew G. Pachota, is the president of Best Block and ownership includes members of the 5th generation of the Pachota family. As we enter the new decade we are proud of our heritage and excited to celebrate 75 years as a family business.
