In 1945, the foundation of Best Block’s business was standard Concrete Masonry Units (CMU’s). They were formed on hand presses using the same regard for quality that we continue using today. Our production lines are consistently updated with state of the art equipment. This allows us the opportunity to serve you, our customer, with a large inventory including special fittings and block sizes, with consistent quality, and quick order turnarounds. Standard CMU’s offer outstanding economy, security, safety, sound deadening qualities, design flexibility, and durability which enhance any design requirements that are part of your project.
Standard CMU’s are commonly used for partition walls, load-bearing walls, either single-wythe or back-up for veneers. Standard CMU’s meet the requirements ASTM C-90 for “medium weight units”. Medium weight units offer higher Sound Transmission Coeffiecient, R-Values and Fire Safety ratings than normal weight units and are lighter for the mason resulting in increased production on site.
